14 Movies You Must See This Summer

You've waited through one cold, harsh winter this year, but the time for summer movie season has arrived, as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 kicks off the next four months of gargantuan blockbusters starting this weekend. And in 2014, there are far too many movies you simply cannot miss. From Peter Parker's greatest battle yet, to the return of an iconic Japanese monster, to a dark fairy with a heart of stone, to four mutant brothers who rise up out of the sewer to save New York City, summer 2014 promises to be one of the biggest and best yet. Get out your scorecards and your personal calendar. You're going to want to make sure you have your money saved up, and all that time off requested. Because these are the 14 movies everyone is going to be talking about throughout August, and you don't want to be left out of the conversation!

1The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man 2

Tagline: His Greatest Battle Begins.

Release Date: May 2

The Players: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, and Paul Giamatti.

Why You Can't Miss It: We've always known that Spider-Man's most important conflict has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that his greatest battle is about to begin. It's great to be Spider-Man. For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen. But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro, Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

There you have it. Those are the biggest movies coming out this summer. Are you excited? Do you feel shortchanged by Hollywood? Is there anything that truly excites you arriving in the next four months? Let us know!

@themoviefanatic Like I said, the 1st was mediocre. It passed.

The 3rd kept jumping around and trying to force a million stories in at once, and all the clear adult-content that punched us in the face that was supposed to be meant for a kid-friendly franchise was horrible. And the last 5 minutes of "Oh hey, Megatron was a little bitch through the whole movie, now he's suddenly a badass-and he's dead" was almost as bad as Venom's 15 minutes of badassery in spider-man 3

My Top 5 for this summer...

      1. "Godzilla"

      2. "Guardians Of The Galaxy"

      3. "X-Men: Days Of Future Past"

      4. "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes"

      5. "Edge Of Tomorrow"

I already saw "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" this weekend. It was mediocre at best, yet I also find it WAY better and MORE entertaining than the first film in my book.

Orange you really put Sharknado 2: The Second One on this list and above Guardians of the Galaxy. I can understand putting it above TMNT because that film is going to be a total disaster, but above Guardians of the Galaxy come on.

Here are the real 10 must see films of the summer.

        1. X-Men: Days of Future's Past

        2. Godzilla

        3. Snowpiercer

        4. Jupiter Ascending

        5. Edge of Tomorrow

        6. Guardians of the Galaxy

        7. A Million Days to die in the West

        8. The Amazing Spider Man 2

        9. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

        10. Lucy

The only films worth while on Orange's list that I haven't listed above are Hercules, and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

@Michael-Kolesik I can understand if you didn't like Transformers 2, considering it was worst one in that movie franchise. But what did you not like about the first and third Transformers movies ?

@themoviefanatic Yes, I have. The first was mediocre. The last two were such cancerous garbage that I could feel my brain cells ritualistically committing seppuku one by one. Michael Bay is not going to see one more penny coming from me.

But Spider-Man, Transformers, X-Men and TMNT?

                BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU'RE FUNNY

There's no way I'm gonna pay money to see those pieces of crap

You do realize there are one or two movies coming out that aren't 150 million dollar cash grabs, right?

Remove "HERCULES" or "THE PURGE 2" and replace one of them with "Boyhood". Then you'll have a list.

I'm interest in every one of those films except for Amazing Spider-Man 2. I still plan on seeing it this weekend, but it looks like trash.

Spider Man needs to be moved down to where Sharknado 2 is listed. It was such a terrible movie. Godzilla is a must see, TF 4, Maleficent, X-Men, and Planet of the Apes 2.
