‘21 Jump Street’ Gets Dave Franco

The actor-writer brother of James Franco will play the villain in Fox's theatrical remake of the 1980s TV series.

Dave Franco joins the cast of 21 Jump StreetDave Franco, the actor-writer brother of James Franco, has joined the cast of Fox's remake 21 Jump Street as a villain.

The actor will play Eric, the most popular kid in high school who also happens to be a drug dealer. Jonah Hill's undercover cop character befriends Eric in order to bust his drug operation. Channing Tatum and Ice Cube also star in 21 Jump Street.

We reported yesterday that Rob Riggle will play another villain in the reboot, which follows a group of undercover cops who infiltrate a high school to stop crime.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs directors and Phil LordChris Miller will direct from a script by Michael Bacall,Joe Gazzam, and Jonah Hill.

We reported in February that the filmmakers still want Johnny Depp for a cameo role in 21 Jump Street. It seems that plans are being made for the actor to come on for a day and shoot his cameo, although it hasn't been made official yet. Johnny Depp starred in the 21 Jump Street TV series, which ran from 1987 to 1991.

21 Jump Street was released March 16th, 2012.
