Now this is how you do a 'teaser' trailer. Sony Pictures exploded onto the scene this morning with their first official look at The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and instead of revealing their full-hand, they offered up a bounty of cool, unexpected moments, hinting at many things and enticing us just enough to know that we definitely want more. So far, this is the best trailer we've seen for any movie coming out in 2014. They nailed it. And these are the moments we're most excited for this morning.

[1] The Rise of Electro

For a long time, we didn't know what to expect out of Electro. Sure, we saw those pictures of Jamie Foxx in the blue make-up, and it looked a little goofy. Then we saw some of the electricity effects being utilized, and that eased our weary minds a bit. But now? Holy cow did they get this character right for a live action movie. He looks enough like the comic books, but still fits into the real world universe that is being created here, giving us something that is uniquely Marvel, and swings next to what Disney is doing with Marvel Studios. The big fight sequence between Spidey and Electro looks like nothing we've ever seen before, and we're getting a different kind of villain here. We also like that fact that this trailer doesn't dwell on him too much. We get none of the back-story behind Max Dillon. It would be awesome if they saved all of that for the actual movie itself. Listen, Sony, we're sold, don't sell us any more. (Sad thing is, they'll probably cut an Electro specific trailer that gives away his entire origin story).

[2] The Reveal of Rhino's Suit

Is anyone else man enough to admit that the 'Transformer'-esque suit seen on the recent triptych poster looked awful? We couldn't even really tell what it was. But now we get a full-on tease of that suit in action, and it looks pretty cool. Sony only gives us a glimpse, and again, we love this. It makes us want to see more. 'What the heck did my eyes just witness?' This type of mechanical suit makes more sense than mobster Aleksei Sytsevich running around in a pair of grey tights with a big plastic horn sticking out of his head. Like Electro, we weren't sure how this was going to turn out, but color us intrigued. This actually looks pretty awesome. How else was this going to work? And again, we hope we only get this small taste. It definitely has us running back to look at that very quick clip again and again.

[3] Harry Osborn's Transformation into Green Goblin

What do you do when maestro Sam Raimi has already tread this ground? And has made a masterpiece in the comic book genre to boot? You take the storyline for a 360-degree turn that will be full of surprises the audience will never see coming. As promised in the first film, we'll finally see what all the fuss is about Peter Parker's dad, and his ties to OsCorp. It seems that Norman is old, and sick, and dying. Part of his final plan to build an evil empire includes turning his son into the Green Goblin. But watch the trailer carefully. What has made Norman so 'green'? Yeah, we're pretty sure he becomes Goblin in this, too, and fails at his experiment, bestowing his son with the reinvented serum. Maybe we're wrong, but we like what we're seeing here in terms of this storyline. Is it enough storyline for its own movie? Sure is. That's why it will be continued in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4. And the one-two punch of acting powerhouses Dane DeHaan and Chris Cooper is clearly going to be a greasy, creepy ride. Could this be the first comic book movie to receive Oscar consideration in an acting category?

[4] The Build Up to Sinister 6

Wow! Just look at where we are at in terms of comic book movies. It's the era I've waited for since first reading these books back when I was a kid in the 80s. It looks like we're finally done with the oh-so boring origin stories and moving onto some real meat. And as evidenced here, this is going to be one epic saga when all is said and done. One that should please Spidey fans of all ages. Right now, people are complaining about how much they are cramming into this one single movie. From the looks of it, we shouldn't worry. There will be very little down time, and it seems as though Marc Webb is intent on building and building this universe in such a way it has us wanting more. As evidenced in the 1:14 mark, we will be seeing Vulture and Doctor Octopus in the next movie. And we will eventually see the Sinister 6 on screen with Lizard, Rhino, Electro, Goblin, Vulture and Doc Ock all coming at Peter Parker in one epic showdown that has the potential to be one of the greatest comic book movie scenes of all time. We can't wait to see how the Sinister 6 storyline is teased more in the actual movie itself, and how this plays out over the course of the next decade. We're in!

[5] The 3D Action Sequences

Half the fun of this movie looks like its going to be watching Spidey swing through Manhattan, catching cars and dodging bullets. They've finally gotten the CGI to a point where it 'almost' looks like a real human being doing these things (not quite). Its not as obvious or cartoony, and I didn't find it as distracting as it once was, especially in the that original trilogy. God, those movies are dated now. This, seen on a tiny computer screen, is amazing to behold. In IMAX 3D, it will be the true epitome of a 'thrill ride'. A roller coaster for those unable to make it to a theme park this summer. If the story ends up sucking big webbed-up balls, we'll still have this aspect to consume and enjoy.

[6] Peter Parker Vs. Gwen Stacy: Two Lovers at War

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn't going to be all action. It looks like Marc Webb is successfully foreaging around in his (500) Days of Summer roots here, and its actually quite lovely. The trailer only goes onto tease this aspect of the film, giving us a cute scene where Gwen plays along with Peter's tardiness like any girlfriend would...In the beginning. We know she's not going to be happy about the bullet dodging in the long run, and Peter's partiality to the red and blue suit will eventually come between them. Its unclear how Marc Webb plans to tease or play-out the Gwen Stacy dies storyline. We've seen her in the iconic dress, but we've also seen her saved at the last minute in a true twist fashion. They scrapped Mary Jane, so just how long will Emma Stone stick around? That's a tough call, but we're pretty sure you won't see it coming. After all, isn't that the fun of reinventing this stuff for fans that know the story inside and out? There has to be some element of surprise.
