Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia are in negotiations to join Gerard Butler in the sci-fi adventure Geostorm for Warner Bros. and Skydance.

Gerard Butler stars as a satellite engineer who learns that the world's climate-control satellites are malfunctioning, forcing him to team up with his estranged brother (Jim Sturgess) to stop a man-made storm from destroying the Earth. While the engineer travels into space to fix the satellites, his brother discovers a plot to assassinate the President of the United States (Andy Garcia). Abbie Cornish will play a Secret Service agent who is also the brother's girlfriend, while Ed Harris is portraying the Secretary of State.

Dean Devlin is directing Geostorm from a script he originally wrote, which is now being worked on by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows). Skydance's David Ellison and Dana Goldberg are producing alongside Dean Devlin's Electric Entertainment partners Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan. Production is scheduled to begin this October in New Orleans.

Jim Sturgess most recently starred in Upside Down, and he will next be seen in Stonehearst Asylum and Kidnapping Freddy Heineken. Abbie Cornish is coming off the RoboCop reboot, while Ed Harris recently starred in Snowpiercer and Planes: Fire & Rescue. Andy Garcia stars in the current comedy Let's Be Cops, and the upcoming Kill the Messenger and Max Steel.
