Heat Vision is reporting that the short film Pixels is getting the big screen treatment.

The short features 1980s video game characters attacking New York City.

French filmmaker Patrick Jean is joining up with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions to create a big-screen version. They are currently talking with Columbia, where Happy Madison has its first-look deal.

Presently, the project is still in the early stages and no writer is attached. The plan "is to make a "Ghostbusters"-style action comedy in which characters come out of a video game to wreak havoc in the real world."

The short film features pixelated versions of Tetris, Space Invaders, Frogger, Pac-Man and others invading the world. Check it out below...
