Steve Carell is in talks to be the first actor signed for the upcoming adaptation of the popular children's novel Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

20th Century Fox is behind this upcoming family film that brings Judith Viorst's book to the big screen for the first time as a live action feature after a couple animated takes on the tale. Lisa Cholodenko, best known for her work on The Kids Are All Right, will write and direct.

Steve Carell will play the role of Ben in this story of a boy who falls asleep chewing gum only to wake up with it entangled in his hair. From there on out, the young boy's day spirals wildly out of control.

There is no production start date for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day set at this time.
