Over the past few months, there have been a number of reports circulating about the possible involvement of Noomi Rapace on director Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. There were reports that she would only have a small role in the sequel, while others claimed that she had been cut out of the movie altogether. Now with production under way in Australia, it seems that Noomi Rapace will be a part of the movie after all.

Deadline's sources claim that Noomi Rapace is currently on the Alien: Covenant set in Australia, where she will shoot "weeks worth of scenes" in the sequel. The actress' character Elizabeth Shaw was the only human survivor of the Prometheus expedition, with the story set a decade after the 2012 movie. With the actress shooting "weeks" worth of scenes, it seems clear that her role will be more than just a simple cameo, although earlier reports claimed she had a small role, so it may actually only be one week's worth of shooting, but we'll have to wait and see.

The story follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, who are bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. They discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. Alien: Covenant starts a new prequel trilogy that will bridge the gap in the events between Prometheus and the original Alien. Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as the android David.

The early plot synopsis revealed that David was the "only survivor" when the Covenant crew finds this remote planet. We know that the story is set a decade after the events of Prometheus, so it's possible that Noomi Rapace will be filming flashbacks, set during this decade gap between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, but that's only speculation at this point. 20th Century Fox has yet to confirm Noomi Rapace's casting, so stay tuned for more details.

Alien: Covenant starts a new prequel trilogy that will bridge the gap in the events between Prometheus and the Alien. Back in December, it was confirmed that iconic Alien creatures such as the Facehugger, Chestburster and Xenomorph will be appearing in the sequel. The cast also includes Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez. And it has been all but confirmed by 20th Century Fox themselves that Katherine Waterston is playing Ripley's mom. Ridley Scott is directing from a script by Jack Paglen, Michael Green and John Logan. Stay tuned for more on Alien: Covenant as production continues in Australia.
