We still have a good while to wait until Alien: Covenant hits theaters, but details are slowly starting to make their way onto the web. Today, we have a new batch of leaked photos from behind the scenes which give us a look at some of the new creatures that will show up in the movie as well as some sets and returning imagery. Be warned, there are potential, fairly major spoilers for Alien: Covenant ahead.

The images come courtesy of So Is It Any Good and are pretty revealing. None of the images are actually from filming, but they do show off some new aliens, which may very well be the new Xenomorphs from Alien: Covenant. The picture that shows the creature close up from the front reveals that these new monsters are very grizzly and primitive looking, plus it looks like it has some human teeth. We recently learned courtesy of Michael Fassbender that these creatures are known as Neomorphs. In the pictures we can see several models of the creatures which resemble the description of the Neomorphs that was provided by the fan site AVPGalaxy.

"The Neomorph resembles some of the older concept art of the proto-Aliens from Prometheus, specifically the white colouration, with a pointed head and two dorsal spines. Upon birth, the Neomorphs move on all fours similar to the Bambi-burster from Alien 3. When they mature, they grow significantly larger and walk on their back legs. They were more animal-like in behaviour with fang-like teeth. Unlike the earlier Prometheus concepts, the Neomorphs also have tails. In addition, the adult Neomorphs also developed a slightly translucent appearance (harkening back to unused concepts from Alien and Prometheus as previously rumored."

Some of the other pictures in this batch of leaked photos provide a look at some very classic imagery that will be showing up in Alien: Covenant. For one, we get a very good look at a facehugger, which first appeared in the original Alien, which was also directed by Ridley Scott. In addition, we also get a look at some of the eggs, which probably are housing some of the facehuggers we will be seeing in the movie. Not only that, but we also got a look at what appears to be pilot's chamber of a ship. Quite possibly the ship that was seen leaving the planet at the end of Prometheus.

We still know very little in terms of specific plot details for Alien: Covenant, but it seems like this will be a much direct prequel to Alien, as opposed to what happened in Prometheus. Ridley Scott also reportedly has at least one and possibly two more movies planned in the series leading up to the events of the original Alien movie. It has been said that this movie will be much scarier and based on these new set photos, that isn't hard to believe.

Most of the crew didn't make it out of Prometheus alive, so the only returning characters for this next entry will be Michael Fassbender as David and Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth. The rest of the new cast includes Demian Bichir, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and Billy Crudup. The only potentially unfortunate part of Ridley Scott's plans for some fans is that it has put Neill Blomkamp's Aliens sequel on hold, at least for now. Alien: Covenant is set for release on August 4, 2017. Be sure to check out the new pics from the movie for yourself below.
