Just days after Russell Crowe signed on to play the dad in Fathers and Daughters, Voltage Pictures has brought on Amanda Seyfried to play the daughter.

The story, written by Brad Desch, is split between the 1980s and present-day Manhattan. The plot centers on Katie (Amanda Seyfried), a woman confronting the demons that stem from childhood issues with her father (Russell Crowe), a famous novelist and widow who suffers from a mental illness.

Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness) is directing, with Voltage's Nicolas Chartier and Craig J. Flores producing. Busted Shark Productions' Sherryl Clark, who developed the script with Brad Desch, is also producing. No production schedule was given.

Amanda Seyfried most recently starred in Les Miserables, alongside Russell Crowe, and the biopic Lovelace. She will next be seen in the Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West from director Seth MacFarlane.
