Just days after her tribute to The Sound of Music at the Oscar awards, pop sensation Lady Gaga revealed on her Twitter page today that she will star in Season 5 of FX's American Horror Story, which has been given the official title American Horror Story: Hotel. Lady Gaga is the first cast member to be confirmed for this season, although no official details were given for the plot line. A brief video posted by the singer/actress also reveals the show will be back some time this October.

The big question that remains is if Emmy winner Jessica Lange will return to the show. The actress has long said that Season 4 will be her last, but neither her exit nor return have been confirmed by FX. Series creator Ryan Murphy did reveal last month that Season 5 will mark "an unusually large reinvention" of the series.

This will mark Lady Gaga's first major television role, although she is no stranger to acting. The singer/actress has appeared on the big screen in Machete Kills, Muppets Most Wanted and most recently in last year's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Ryan Murphy has long been a fan of Lady Gaga, writing the memorable tribute episode to the singer in the first season of Glee. Check out the brief video Lady Gaga posted this morning, and stay tuned for more details on American Horror Story: Hotel.
