TWC-Dimension is moving forward with their Amityville reboot, bringing on Jennifer Jason Leigh to star and Franck Khalfoun (Maniac) to direct.

Bloody-Disgusting confirmed the news, revealing that the plot centers on Jennifer Jason Leigh's character, a single mother who moves her three children into the infamous Amityville house, which they later learn has a dark history. The project was initially set to be a found-footage project, although now that angle has been dropped.

Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands wrote the script, with Jason Blum producing through his Blumhouse Productions company. It isn't known when production will begin, but the studio has already set a January 2, 2015 release date for the thriller back in December.

Franck Khalfoun's other directing credits include P2, Wrong Turn at Tahoe and the upcoming I-Lived. Jennifer Jason Leigh most recently starred in The Spectacular Now and Kill Your Darlings, and she will next be seen in Welcome to Me and Hateship Loveship.
