Arrow Season 4 Finale Trailer Reveals Darhk's Diabolical Plan

By Brian Gallagher — May 23rd, 2016

Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) season-long battle with Damen Darhk (Neal McDonough) will finally come to an end with the Arrow Season 4 finale Schism, which is set to air on Wednesday, May 25. Following the photos from this season finale released last week, The CW has debuted an extended trailer, which offers new footage from Olly's ultimate showdown with this powerful villain, who has plans to "cleanse" humanity on a global scale. This trailer reveals that Damien has nuclear missiles aimed at every major city in the world, and it's up to Oliver and his team to stop him.

The trailer, which debuted through The CW Network YouTube page, teases that Damien Darhk has an army of Star City citizens under his supernatural control, and that he plans on moving forward with his plans, despite one big glitch. The trailer includes a scene where Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) ponders why Darhk is moving forward with this destructive plan, even after his anti-nuclear bunker was destroyed, with Oliver Queen speculating that Darhk has lost all hope. We also see footage of Oliver and Damien's final showdown, with both sides bringing plenty of allies to join the fight.

The synopsis for Schism reveals that Oliver will team up with "a surprising force" to bring down Damien Darhk, but we don't know who Oliver's new ally may be. Given the amount of villains that circulate throughout the show, it could be anyone who stops by to help Olly out, including the heroes from CW's other hit shows The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Then again, since Oliver and those heroes have teamed up before, their presence may not be too surprising, so we'll just have to wait and see who Arrow teams up with.

There have been rumors that the show's finale will also address the growing rift between Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), but we're not sure how this conflict will be resolved. There is also speculation that Thea (Willa Holland) may be tempted to join forces with Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), but we see Thea in her Speedy costume as she learns what Damien is planning with Arrow. Merlyn has been trying to recruit Thea to abandon Team Arrow recently, so we'll have to wait and see how that story line pans out.

Arrow was picked up for a fifth season back in March, and last week, Stephen Amell teased that the new season's villain won't have any superpowers, and that bringing in a character like this is only something that can be done within a show's fifth, sixth or seventh season. The CW also recently confirmed that next season will feature an epic crossover with Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, which will move to The CW this season after airing its first season on CBS. Check out the new trailer for the Arrow Season 4 finale, and stay tuned for more on Season 5.
