Deadpool Spoofs Kanye, Explains Why He'll Never Host SNL

By B. Alan Orange — February 20th, 2016

Saturday Night Live has been in the news a lot these past few days. First, reports that last week's musical guest Kanye West had an insane meltdown right before he was supposed to perform were confirmed by leaked audio of the rapper's epic rant. Then, one enterprising fan decided to launch a change.org petition, asking Lorne Michaels, Ryan Reynolds, the Saturday Night Live production staff and NBC to bring the actual character of Deadpool to Studio 8H so that he could host the show. Both buzz worthy stories now collide thanks to a viral video from social media maestro himself, and star of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds.

In its storied history, only Paul Reubens has ever stayed in character for an entire episode of Saturday Night Live, with Pee-wee Herman hosting way back in 1985. And it doesn't sound like that is about to change anytime soon. In his video tirade, Wade Wilson goes on the verbal attack, and explains why you'll never see his superhero alter ego on the popular sketch show. No matter how many signatures change.org racks up. Deadpool had this to say about the prospects of hosting SNL, spoofing Kanye West's monumental freakout from last weekend.

"Listen up, Lorne Michaels. SNL took my f-king Life of Pablo album without asking. Now I'm bummed. That and Rip Taylor - fake a-! I'm gonna break the mother f*cking internet. It's been 7 years since X-Men Origins, fuck this shit. I've got the biggest opening rated R movie of all time. Are they fucking crazy? I'm 50% more influential than MC Hammer, Apostle Judas Iscariot, the KIA Sorrento...10% more influential than Barbara Bush, the Muppets, Bob Newhart. 60% more influential than the iPhone 5, shredded cheese and Dr. Ruth. 7% less influential than the Urban Dictionary. Don't f*ck with me. Don't...F*CK WITH ME! Dead or alive...3% more than Wolverine! Ha! Hmm! (Laughs)"

Andrew Stege's petition is still going strong. He has exceeded his goal of 25,000 signatures, with 69,053 supporters in favor of seeing Deadpool do live comedy. He has now set a new goal of 75,000, and only has 5,947 signatures to go. If you want to help push the cause forward, you can join the cause here. But from the sounds of this video, it won't help get Ryan Reynolds in costume on stage at SNL. This is what Andrew Stege has to say about the petition.

"We've all seen the trailers, the magazine covers, the viral videos, and the billboards by now, so what's left for Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) to do? HOST SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AS DEADPOOL!!!! How would this not be hilarious having Deadpool in sketches, breaking the 4th wall, and inserting some of his brand of humor (obviously toned down a bit for network television)!?!?! I have not watched a full episode of SNL in years because I just haven't been able to stomach an entire episode, but having Deadpool host, star, and be all over the episode would get the DVR set so I can watch it again and again!!! Not to mention, depending on the musical guest, how awesome would it be to have some Deadpool interpretive dancing while the musical guest was playing? There's unlimited possibilities!!! Sign this petition in hopes that it'll find it's way to the 'powers that be' and get that idea churning in their heads! Bring Deadpool to host SNL!!!"

Ryan Reynolds has hosted Saturday Night Live one time in the past. He appeared in Season 35 during 2009, with musical guest Lady Gaga. This happened the same year he appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Deadpool. Deadpool is a true box office phenomenon, and is expected to rule in its second weekend. 20th Century Fox has already green lit a sequel, with Ryan Reynolds returning as the title character. Original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are already working on the new screenplay, which will introduce fan-favorite mutant Cable. And original director Tim Miller is expected to return. What do you think about Wade Wilson's epic rant?
