As the first season of The Muppet Show hits DVD shelves everywhere this week, MovieWeb got a chance to sit down with the star of the show, Kermit the Frog, to discuss the latest happenings in his world.

So Kermit are you still with Miss Piggy or going with the times are you two engaging in an open relationship?

Miss Piggy and I are still together, but I'd like to have an open relationship. So as soon as I see an opening, I'm going to make a break for it.

Don't you think it's time you two had some kids?

We don't have that kind of relationship. And besides, we're waiting to see how the Supreme Court rules on interspecies marriage.

Where do you go to relax? At the end of the day, where might one find Kermit the Frog kicking up his heels?

A frog kicks up his heels in the swamp, which is why it's best to wear goggles when you come over to visit. Y'know, this year I'm celebrating 50 years in show business, so it's very important that I keep myself grounded. I like to plant my feet back in the mud and muck of the swamp, surrounded by the toads and snakes I grew up with—as opposed to the ones you meet in Hollywood.

Are you tight with Yoda?

Good friends we are. Sorry, you hang out with Yoda, you can't help like that talking. There aren't a lot of parts for short green leading men, so we usually run into each other at auditions. A good actor, he is. I'm hoping someday we can do "The Odd Couple" together. He's a natural Felix.

Which Muppet movie was your favorite? Mine was "The Muppets Take Manhattan" if you care.

I think "The Muppet Movie" is still my favorite, mostly because it was our first. And because it was all about how we met, that made it easier to make up as we went along. Someday, we're going to have to try using scripts.

What's your opinion on the US involvement in Iraq?

I'll have to get back to you, right now I'm still trying to figure out how to pay for pork subsidies.

With all these huge celebrity trials happening how have you managed to keep your nose clean and not end up in court?

When I'm not making a movie, I'm back in the swamp. Despite the pond scum, it's a lot easier to keep your nose clean in a swamp than it is in Hollywood.

Lets just say that you and Fozzie Bear had a falling out... would Gonzo be his replacement?

I can't imagine having a falling out with Fozzie, Gonzo or any of the others. Y'see, the Muppets are like a family —strange, dysfunctional, unreasonable, irrational and very, very forgiving. Besides, Fozzie wears a bigger hat size than Gonzo, so it wouldn't work anyway.

Any chance you and Miss Piggy will let the cameras in and give the world a MUPPET REALITY TV SHOW?

It could happen, but personally I like my privacy (despite the fact that I don't wear clothes). And Miss Piggy is a big Hollywood star, which means she hasn't been anywhere near reality in years.

Finish this line "Saying goodbye is always so sad..."

"...Makes us remember the good times we've had. Much more to say, foolish to try, it's time for saying goodbye."
