Warner Bros. Had the Biggest Home Video Market Share in 2006

Despite having a great 2006, it was Warner Bros. Home Video and not Buena Vista Home Entertainment who had the biggest market share.

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that movies like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire helped give Warner Bros. an 18.4% market share.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment was a close second with 16.1%. They had films like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe to help propel them into that position.

Coming in third with 15% was 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Some of their bigger titles were Ice Age: The Meltdown and X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment came in fourth place with 13.2%. Universal Studios Home Entertainment placed fifth "with a 12.4% market share."

Coming in sixth was Paramount Home Entertainment, "with a market share of 12.2%."

Lastly, Lionsgate closed out "the year at 5.2%, while upstart Genius Products came in at 1.4%."

Overall consumers spent $24.2 billion on home video purchases and rentals.
