Actress Amy Adams has reportedly entered into early discussions to star in New Line's remake The Orphanage.

Amy Adams will portray Laura if she officially signs on, a young woman who returns to the orphanage where she was raised, to turn the facility into a home for mentally-disabled children. Her young son begins to encounter the same demon which tormented Laura many years ago. Belén Rueda starred in the Spanish version of The Orphanage.

This project has been percolating for several years, after the Spanish-language horror classic The Orphanage hit theaters in late 2007. Mark Pellington came on board to direct The Orphanage back in January 2010. He will direct from a screenplay by Guillermo del Toro and Larry Fessenden.

It isn't known when production may begin on The Orphanage remake yet.
