Andrew Garfield has landed one of the leads in the new drama, Lions for Lambs for United Artists; he'll make his feature film debut.

He'll join Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep in the film, which Redford is directing and producing; it's based on a screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan. The Hollywood Reporter says the story features three interconnected plotlines: a congressman who interacts with a journalist; an idealistic professor who attempts to inspire a privileged student in his class; and a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory in Afghanistan, one of whom is the professor's former student.

Lions for Lambs will hit theaters later this year.
