Director Joe Wright is locking down the cast of his new project Anna Karenina, with Saoirse Ronan, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Olivia Williams, Andrea Riseborough, and Domhnall Gleeson all joining this adaptation.

Keira Knightley and Jude Law have already committed to Anna Karenina, with Keira Knightley portraying the title character, while Jude Law will play her husband. The story, adapted from the literary classic novel by Leo Tolstoy, will follow Anna as she seeks to create a new life for herself by trying to get out of a loveless marriage. We reported in March that Aaron Johnson is in talks for a role, which he has now secured, portraying Anna's new lover, Vronsky.

Saoirse Ronan will play Kitty, the sister of Kelly Macdonald's character, Dolly, while Matthew Macfadyen will play Oblonsky, Anna's brother and husband to Dolly. Olivia Williams is set to portray Countess Vronskaya, the mother of Vronsky, Andrea Riseborough will play Princess Betsy, and Domhnall Gleeson joins the cast as Levin.

Joe Wright will direct Anna Karenina from a screenplay by Tom Stoppard, which is adapted from the Leo Tolstoy novel. Production will start in September, with filming to take place in Great Britain and Russia.
