Anna Kendrick is in talks to join the growing cast of Into the Woods as Cinderella for Walt Disney Pictures and director Rob Marshall.

The story, adapted from the hit Broadway musical, centers on a baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) who head into the woods to confront an evil witch (Meryl Streep), whose curse prevents the couple from ever having children.

Along their journey, they encounter several classic fairy tale characters such as Anna Kendrick's Cinderella and the Big Bad Wolf (Johnny Depp). Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are playing Cinderella and Rapunzel's vain princes, with Tracey Ullman playing the mother of Jack the Giant Killer, and Christine Baranski portraying Cinderella's mean stepmother. Cinderella is described as a young woman trying to find her place in the world.

Rob Marshall is directing from a screenplay by James Lapine. Production is scheduled to begin this fall.
