Antonio Banderas has become the latest to join the cast of the upcoming production Black Gold, according to Deadline New York.

Antonio Banderas joins a cast that already includes Mark Strong, Freida Pinto and A Prophet star Tahar Rahim, along with Riz Ahmed and Liya Kebede.

The movie is set in the 1930s, a time when oil was first being discovered in parts of Saudi Arabia. The story centers on rival Arabian tribes and a young ruler who manages to unite these warring kingdoms. Jean-Jacques Annaud is directing from a screenplay by Menno Meyjes.

Black Gold will start shooting October 18 on location in Tunisia.
