We reported over the weekend that The Weinstein Company has acquired the rights to Timur Bekmambetov's mysterious project Apollo 18, which will be released in just a few months on March 4, 2011. Badass Digest dug a little deeper into the story and discovered a unique video that could either be "found footage" from the actual aborted Apollo 18 moon mission, or a unique viral video. Click on the clip below to see it for yourself:

The original Apollo 18 mission was supposed to take place in the 1970s and, despite NASA's claim that the mission never happened, some "found footage" from that mission was recently discovered. The movie's storyline goes onto proves that Apollo 18, as well as the Apollo 19 and 20 missions that were also supposedly canceled, actually did take place, and that astronauts recovered an alien spacecraft containing the remains of a female alien on board. This new video is allegedly part of the footage Timur Bekmambetov claims is from the actual Apollo 18 mission, although Badass Digest speculates that this is just a viral video created for the movie.

Trevor Caewood will direct Apollo 18 from a script by Brian Miller, with Timur Bekmambetov producing. You can CLICK HERE to read Badass Digest's full story.
