Yesterday, we got our first look at Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner in new photos from the upcoming sci-fi thriller Arrival, hitting theaters on November 11. Yesterday's report revealed the first trailer would arrive today, and now we have our first look at footage from Arrival below. The story centers on an alien race that mysteriously comes to Earth, but unfortunately we don't get to see these creatures quite yet.

When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team - lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) - is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers - and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity. Jeremy Renner stars as a theoretical physicist who is trying to determine what the aliens really want. Paramount previously showcased this new project at CinemaCon in April.

The story is based on Ted Chiang's 1998 novella Story Of Your Life, which was the original title of movie when it was entering production last year. The story also touches on the global community's fear of the aliens, as they share information with one another while harboring their own agendas, with Jeremy Renner revealing yesterday that the film shows "the divide in the unity with people across the world". Amy Adams also spoke about the scenes with these alien visitors in yesterday's report, teasing these scenes involved "awesome puppeteers who ran around holding very long poles with big orbs on the end."

The supporting cast includes Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg and Tzi Ma, with Denis Villeneuve directing from an adapted screenplay by Eric Heisserer (Lights Out). The movie will hit theaters on November 11, going up against Universal's Almost Christmas, TriStar's Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk and EuropaCorp's Shut In. The movie will also debut just one week after Marvel's highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, which could be a huge hit this fall.

Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing Arrival through their 21 Laps Entertainment company, along with David Linde, Karen Lunder and Aaron Ryder. With this mid-November release, its possible this sci-fi movie could get some Oscar buzz as awards season starts heating up at the end of this year. Take a look at the first trailer for Arrival, and stay tuned for more as we get closer to the November 11 release.
