Less than a week after Liam Neeson expressed his interest in playing Ra's al Ghul on The CW's hit series Arrow, another actor has won the villainous role. Series star Stephen Amell announced on his Twitter page today that Matt Nable has signed on to play the League of Shadows founder, although it still isn't known when we'll first see him in Season 3.

The CW Network announced at Comic-Con 2014 that Ra's al Ghul will be the primary Season 3 nemesis for Oliver Queen, although he was hinted at a number of different times in Season 2, including the presence of his daughter Nyssa (Katrina Law).

Here's what executive producer Marc Guggenheim said during an interview at Comic-Con in July, revealing that they are approaching the character in a much different way than in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins.

"We have a really clever way of doing Ra's this year that is true to the comic-book origins but different from the way Ra's was portrayed in the Nolan movies. You don't want to compete with Batman Begins, even though we've always said Batman Begins was a big influence on us. We really wanted our Ra's to be very different - at least our own Arrow-ified version."

Matt Nable's movie credits include Killer Elite, K-11 and Riddick. Before he turned his attention to acting, Matt Nable was formerly a professional rugby player.
