With production recently starting on Season 4 of The CW's Arrow, a number of new characters have already been announced, such as the season's main villain, Damien Dahrk (Neal McDonough). Naturally, there are still a slew of characters from the comics that haven't been brought in quite yet, including the Weapons Clans, seven separate groups who align themselves with one particular weapon. During Comic-Con a few weeks ago, the web series DC All Access caught up with Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, who teased that the Weapons Clans may certainly come into play in the near future.

"We've talked about it. We've absolutely talked about it. It comes up in the writers room all the time, and Katana was introduced. We're just waiting for the right story to tell. We never approach it from the standpoint of, 'We've gotta get that in, we've got to get that character in, we have to name-check that character.' It's always organic. We love the Weapon Clans, and eventually I'm sure they will end up on the show."

In Arrow Season 3, Rila Fukushima guest starred as Katana, who, in the New 52 comics, was part of the Sword Clan. It isn't known if this character will return quite yet, especially given the character's connection to next year's superhero movie, Suicide Squad. The CW series had planned on using the Harley Quinn character on the show, but they weren't allowed to by DC because of the character's affiliation with Suicide Squad. Katana is also featured in that movie, played by Karen Fukuhara, but we'll have to wait and see if the character will come back to Arrow.

The other Weapons Clan groups include Arrow, Spear, Fist, Shield, Axe and Mask. It isn't known if there are plans to include any of these Clans in the upcoming season, but we do know that Season 4 will delve into mystical elements more than ever, and there is plenty of mysticism surrounding the Weapons Clans. The Mask Clan, for instance, have the ability to disguise themselves as anybody. This certainly could be an intriguing element for Team Arrow to deal with in the future.

Season 4 of Arrow has already confirmed Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, Alexander Calvert as Anarky, Echo Kellum as superhero Mister Terrific, Jimmy Akingbola as the villainous Baron Blitzkrieg and JR Bourne has come aboard to portray DC comics villain Double Down. Jeri Ryan has also signed on to play Jessica Danforth, a character who doesn't originate in the comics, who is a friend to Oliver Queen's family.
