Ubisoft's highly-anticipated video game adaptation Assassin's Creed has been filming in Malta for just over a month, but, unlike many productions, we haven't seen too many photos from the set thus far. That all changed today when Ubisoft's head of content Azaïzia Aymar paid a visit to the set and shared the first photos from his Twitter account. Unfortunately, we don't get a glimpse at star Michael Fassbender or any of the other Assassin's Creed cast members in action, but we do get our first look at the Abstergo Industries logo, along with director Justin Kurzel.

In the Assassin's Creed video game, Abstergo Industries is a multinational corporate conglomerate, which also serves as the primary front for the modern day activities of the Templar Order. It isn't known exactly how Abstergo will fit into this video game adaptation, but at least now we know the corporation will be present. Michael Fassbender is portraying two distinct roles, Callum Lynch and his 15th Century descendant Aguilar. The story follows Callum, who descends from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures president Jean-Julien Baronnet recently compared Assassin's Creed to hit movies such as Batman Begins and Blade Runner. Instead of farming the game out to a major studio, Ubisoft launched their own movie division, developing both Assassin's Creed and their upcoming Splinter Cell in-house, before teaming with New Regency and 20th Century Fox to finance and distribute these movies. Jean-Julien Baronnet revealed that they spent four years developing Assassin's Creed before it went into production.

Over the weekend, Azaïzia Aymar revealed in a Twitter Q&A that they are taking a Star Wars approach to building the Assassin's Creed universe. It has already been confirmed that the movie adaptation will be set within the video game world, but it will tell a completely different story. Ubisoft hasn't unveiled an official synopsis yet, but hopefully we'll hear more plot details soon.

The Assassin's Creed supporting cast includes Ariane Labed, Michael K. Williams, Carlos Bardem and Denis Menochet. Justin Kurzel is directing from an adapted screenplay by Scott Frank, Michael Leslie, Bill Collage and Adam Cooper. While we wait for more details about this highly-anticipated adaptation, check out the first set photos from Assassin's Creed.
