Producer Kevin Feige revealed in an on-set interview with BuzzFeed that the Avengers lineup will be "altered" at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which essentially confirms a report from earlier this month that The Avengers 3 will feature a new team of heroes.

Take a look at Kevin Feige's comments below, then read on for more information.

"The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins. It's like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film."

The initial report from early October revealed that Marvel is planning a massive "all-franchise" event that could be either Civil War or Infinity Gauntlet. Just a week after that story, the studio announced that Robert Downey Jr. will star as Tony Star in Captain America 3, with the sequel launching the studio's Civil War story line. The plot follows Tony and Cap (Chris Evans) feuding over the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with super-human abilities to register themselves with the government, and agree to be a part of a new police force. While Stark is for the new law, Rogers and many others are opposed, forcing them to go on the run in a story which will enable Stark to act as a villain, of sorts.

Of course, it's uncertain how the Avengers lineup will be "altered" at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, but the first trailer released last week certainly did hint at plenty of animosity within the Avengers ranks. We'll keep you posted as soon as more details surface.
