With Infinity War getting closer and closer to its theatrical release on April 27, Empire Magazine has unveiled six new Avengers collectible covers for its May 2018 issue, featuring a number of unique heroes placed together, who often don't get to meet. The Mad Titan known as Thanos (Josh Brolin) is the only character to get a cover by himself, shown wielding the Infinity Gauntlet with two of the six Infinity Stones already in place, the Space Stone, and the Power Stone. While this certainly isn't a good sign for Earth's Greatest Heroes, he still needs to get four more to complete the collection.

These are the same two stones that Thanos is seen with in the first Infinity War trailer, although it isn't clear exactly when Thanos retrieves these stones. The Space Stone was last seen on The Statesman, a ship that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) used to escape Sakaar in Thor: Ragnarok. However, in the post-credit scene, The Statesman was met by another ship known as Sanctuary II, which belongs to Thanos, so it's possible this is how he gets a hold of the Space Stone. As for the Power Stone, that was last seen at the Nova Corps headquarters on Xandar at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, so it's possible that Thanos makes a trip to Xandar before coming across Thor and Loki.

As for the rest of the Empire covers, the first features Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) alongside his former Captain America: Civil War rival Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who are both flanked by two of the strongest females in the MCU, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Shuri (Letitia Wright) from Black Panther. While Steve Rogers has connections with Wakanda before, bringing Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) there at the end of Captain America: Civil War, it will be interesting to see how Tony Stark interacts with another tech genius like Shuri in Avengers: Infinity War.

The second cover features another eclectic mix of MCU heroes, with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), sporting the Eye of Agamotto, a.k.a. The Time Stone, alongside Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). The third cover features the Black Panther himself, T'challa (Chadwick Boseman) with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Nebula (Karen Gillan). Unfortunately, this cover image doesn't give us a better glimpse at Bucky's new arm, which was seen in the trailers, presumably made of vibranium from Black Panther's home country Wakanda.

The fourth cover brings some of the characters from the cosmic side of the MCU together, with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), sporting his eyepatch from Thor: Ragnarok, alongside three members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff). This makes sense sense, Thor was seen meeting the Guardians towards the end of the first Infinity War trailer. The fifth cover features two more of the Guardians, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) along with The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) in his new Iron Spider suit and The Falcon (Anthony Mackie).
