Way back in 2012, The Avengers not only brought Marvel Phase One to a close, but the now-iconic post-credit scene introduced us to the villain pulling the strings all along, Thanos. It wasn't until 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy that we got our first full look at The Mad Titan, played by Josh Brolin, but there is still very little we know about the villain himself. While promoting Captain America: Civil War, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely teased that fans will learn a lot more about Thanos early on in Avengers: Infinity War Part I, which they are also writing. Here's what Christopher Markus had to say, when it was mentioned that fans don't known a whole lot about Thanos up to this point.

"That's a good point. We don't get an element of surprise. Everyone knows he's coming, and yet he hasn't had terribly many scenes that have illuminated very much about him. You can count on a lot of scenes where we illuminate a lot about him very early."

Yesterday, director Anthony Russo said that both Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War - Part II will be the "culmination" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has been presented thus far, while revealing that the story will be told from every hero's perspective. Both Anthony Russo and Joe Russo have insisted that the two-part adventure will feature every MCU character, which presents quite a daunting task for the writers. Here's what Stephen McFeely had to say about how they approached this gigantic storytelling task.

"We still have to take it on a character-by-character basis. The challenge is hanging on to character as motivation when you blow the canvas up to the entire universe. And not to make it seem like all your people look like tiny little video game characters running around. It's just trying to balance character moments in the middle of big, crazy Jim Starlin [creator of the Infinity Gauntlet comic series] action."

While no specific plot details have been revealed for Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War - Part II, we know it will center on Thanos' quest to fill his Infinity Gauntlet with the six Infinity Stones. Four of these have been introduced thus far, the Space Stone contained in the Tesseract, the Mind Stone, which is currently housed within Vision (Paul Bettany), the Reality Stone, currently housed within The Collector's (Benicio Del Toro) museum, and the Power Stone, which is in the possession of Nova Corps. We don't know for sure when the final two stones, the Soul Stone and the Time Stone will be introduced, but it has been hinted that the Time Stone may be the Eye of Agamotto that will be featured in Doctor Strange, hitting theaters November 4. Do you have any theories about how Thanos will be introduced in Avengers: Infinity War Part I?
