Will Smith is currently in Toronto, shooting his DC Comics movie Suicide Squad, where he has been performing most of his own stunts. Those skills might come in handy for his next film, if Sony Pictures has their way. The studio is hoping to make Bad Boys 3 the actor's next movie, and they have hired Joe Carnahan to write the script. But how excited are fans for this sequel? After launching the initial story yesterday, we discovered that everyone wants to see original stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith reunite on the big screen.

Joe Carnahan, who is best known for such movies as Stretch, The A-Team, The Grey and Smokin' Aces, is in early talks to direct. Bad Boys 3 has been in development for years, but Will Smith's constantly busy schedule has kept the sequel from happening. Michael Bay made his directorial debut with 1995's Bad Boys, and he also made the 2003 sequel Bad Boys II.

While this latest Bad Boys 3 report doesn't mention Will Smith's co-star Martin Lawrence by name, the comedian claimed last August that Bad Boys 3 was "close to happening." And that certainly appears to be the case. David Guggenheim (Safe House) signed on to write the screenplay way back in 2013, although no details were given regarding the story. The sequel has been in development for over a decade. The hope is that Joe Carnahan can get a new draft together quickly. Production may begin as early as this year, or possibly early next year. Will Smith will be filming Suicide Squad until September, and it isn't known if he has any specific projects lined up after that.

Do you hope this is his next movie after Suicide Squad? Or should a sequel to Suicide Squad come first? Are you even hoping for a sequel to Focus, which would reteam Will Smith and Suicide Squad co-star Margot Robbie?
