Game of Thrones star Richard Madden has signed on to join Idris Elba and Adèle Exarchopoulos in the Focus Features action-thriller Bastille Day.

The story centers on a rogue CIA agent tasked with apprehending an American man in Paris, who is linked to an attack on the metro system. While the agent is ordered to make this suspect disappear, to avoid any embarrassment to the U.S. government, he comes to realize the American is innocent, and he may be the only link to the actual culprit. No details were given for Richard Madden's character.

James Watkins (The Woman in Black, Eden Lake) is directing from a screenplay by Andrew Baldwin, who signed on to write Universal Pictures' sequel to The Bourne Legacy back in May. Philippe Rousselet is producing the project via his Vendome Pictures banner, along with Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, David Kanter, and Bard Dorros. Focus Features acquired the project back in May, although it isn't clear when production may begin.

Aside from his role as Robb Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones, Richard Madden also stars in Disney's Cinderella as Prince Charming, which hits theaters next year.
