Last month, it was confirmed that Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy will return to provide the voices for The Joker and Batman in the upcoming animated movie Batman: The Killing Joke, and we also got to see the first photo. While Warner Bros. hasn't announced a release date quite yet, the studio has released the first trailer, on the Bruce Wayne YouTube page. The project was announced last year during the world premiere screening of Justice League: Gods and Monsters.

Shortly after this DC Universe Original Movie adaptation was announced, based on the Alan Moore graphic novel Batman: The Killing Joke, Mark Hamill confirmed that he will reprise his iconic voice role as The Joker, and that he had already started recording his lines for the animated movie. Last month we got confirmation from Mark Hamill's Twitter that Kevin Conroy will return to voice Batman. The Bruce Wayne YouTube page released a 24-second teaser yesterday before the full trailer dropped today, and you can check out both videos below.

Both Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy have become well-known for their voice work, since their first collaboration on the hit 1990s show Batman: The Animated Series. They also reprised their voice roles on The New Batman Adventures, the Justice League animated series and a number of video games, including last year's Batman: Arkham Knight. Mark Hamill also released the first photo of both Batman and The Joker squaring off in this new movie.

Batman: The Killing Joke is a beloved graphic novel written by Alan Moore and drawn by Brian Bolland, which was published in 1988. The plot offers one of the few origin stories for The Joker, where he has a theory that one bad day can drive any man insane, which he tests on James Gordon. The story also features Barbara Gordon becoming paralyzed, for a period of time, leading to her retiring as Batgirl. It isn't known how faithful this adaptation will be to the source material, or how much will be changed. Executive producer Bruce W. Timm revealed at Comic Con that the movie will include, "an original 15-minute prologue that helps set up the story, giving even longtime fans of the story something new to look forward to."

The voice cast will also include Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, with Ray Wise voicing Commissioner Gordon. It hasn't been announced yet who will write and direct at this time. Sam Liu is listed as the director on the project's IMDB page, but that hasn't been confirmed. While we wait for more details, take a look at the first footage from Batman: The Killing Joke below.
