Last June, months before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters, rumors surfaced that Warner Bros. was so impressed with Ben Affleck's work as Batman, that they wanted him to star in and direct an Untitled Batman Reboot. While the project hasn't been officially confirmed by Warner Bros., or given a release date yet, the actor-filmmaker's agent recently confirmed that he has already written the script for this untitled movie, which he was reportedly developing with DC's Geoff Johns. But it seems the story may not be fully hashed out yet. During an interview with Joe.ie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder revealed that he's still trying to convince Ben Affleck to make this project, but it may not happen for quite some time.

"I keep working on him, he's always said he's a one movie at a time guy. He's finishing editing his film, Live by Night and then he comes to Justice League and then after that, I think he's going to try and develop the story. Then we'll see if he likes it. I think that's (Ben Affleck directing) kind of the prerequisite, hopefully, for him doing [the film]."

Last week, Ben Affleck's agent confirmed that he is contracted to appear in both Justice League Part 1, which starts shooting one week from today in the U.K., and Justice League Part 2. There is also an "option" for him to star in and direct the Untitled Batman Reboot, but even if that does move forward, Warner Bros. hasn't issued a release date quite yet. There have also been reports that the studio wants to lock in the actor as their Batman for the next 10 years.

Last week, a report surfaced that this Batman reboot may hit theaters sometime within the first half of 2018, with the studio possibly positioning the movie between The Flash (March 16, 2018) and Aquaman (July 27, 2018). That report has not been confirmed at this time, and we haven't heard anything about the story thus far. There have been rumors that this project could be a live-action adaptation of the iconic Red Hood story, which was adapted into the 2010 animated movie Batman: Under the Red Hood.

This summer, the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) will continue with Suicide Squad, which will feature Ben Affleck's Batman returning in a cameo role. Next year will bring the release of Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017, followed by Justice League Part 1 (November 17, 2017), The Flash (March 16, 2018) and Aquaman (July 27, 2018), Shazam! (April 5, 2019), Justice League Part 2 (June 14, 2019), Cyborg (April 3, 2020) and Green Lantern Corps. (June 19, 2020). Take a look at Zack Snyder's video interview below, with the Untitled Batman Reboot comments coming at the 1:35 mark.
