Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might not be the one critics love, but it sure is racking up impressive numbers at the weekend box office. In its first day of release, the movie has pulled in an estimated $82 million, with anaylsts placing it at $170M+ for the three day Easter weekend. While it didn't break any major box office records yet, it is on its way to having the best pre-summer opening of all time. And it will be Warner Bros.' biggest opening of all time, taking over the spot currently occupied by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, which had an opening weekend gross of $169.1 million.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice pulled in an impressive $27.7 million during Thursday previews, before opening on 4,242 screens for Good Friday to the tune of $82 million. The film is reportedly budgeted at $250 million before marketing, with some estimates placing it at over $400 million after all is said and done. During its first day in theaters, it pulled in an impressive $19,333 per theater. The epic DC adventure had the highest Easter Weekend Thursday pre-show of all-time, besting 2015's Furious 7, which earned $15.8 million this same time last year.

With a very low rotten score of 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie is faring much better with average moviegoers and most comic book fans, earning a B CinemaScore. It's not an A, which could spell trouble for future box office, as word of mouth isn't exactly helping urge audiences into seats. But that shouldn't stop the movie from hitting its $170M+ mark by the time all the smoke clears on Monday. This will be the largest Batman opening, beating The Dark Knight Rises' 2012 take of $160.9 million during its opening weekend. That Christopher Nolan directed sequel went onto gross $1.084 billion worldwide.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice should have no problem stealing away the best pre-summer box office opening record, currently belonging to The Hunger Games, which pulled in $152.5 million back in March 2012. Batman v Superman is also faring well overseas, where it added $67.2 million on Friday for a total of $115.3 million during its three day international launch.

This total includes $20 million from China, which marks the biggest opening day for a Warner Bros. movie in that country. Worldwide, this follow-up to 2013's Man of Steel has earned a combine gross of $197 million.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before. Zack Snyder directs a cast that includes Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Amy Adams and Jason Momoa. Have you seen it yet?
