When the first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer debuted back in April, there were two shots that showed Batman (Ben Affleck) holding what appeared to be a rifle, one while he was in an abandoned building, and another standing on top of a skyscraper. These images from the trailer started to make the rounds, leading fans to question what this object really was. If a new report is to be believed, it's not a rifle at all, but it could play a very integral part in the story. Be warned, there will be potential SPOILERS ahead, so read on at your own risk.

Since we haven't seen much footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice yet, many are wondering how this epic battle between The Dark Knight and Superman (Henry Cavill) will pan out. There have been early reports that this version of Batman is a "weary crimefighter" when the movie opens, and Superman is armed with all sorts of superhuman abilities. But, Superman does have a weakness, and Batman will seemingly exploit that weakness with the object he's seen holding in the building, which, according to this report, is a "Kryptonite-laced spear."

This report doesn't include any information about how Batman comes into possession of Kryptonite, but there have been rumors that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) will wear his iconic purple and green battle suit in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Luthor reportedly makes this suit after obtaining Kryptonian technology from the aftermath of the epic Metropolis battle in Man of Steel. If this is true, then perhaps Lex gives Batman some of his Kryptonite for this spear, but that is only speculation. The second shot on the roof, however, does appear to be a rifle that is similar to one seen in Frank Miller's comic The Dark Knight Rises. What do you think about the possible inclusion of a Kryptonite spear? Check out both of the images from the trailer:
