Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman are both featured on the cover of Empire Magazine's upcoming September issue, with the actors in their full Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice costumes. Batman is seen against the backdrop of a dreary Gotham City, while Metropolis' shiny skyline is seen behind Superman. Director Zack Snyder also called Batman "operatic," adding there is "this gravitas" to the character, while Henry Cavill revealed that Superman is a bit more complex. Here's what the actor had to say.

"In this movie, everyone has split into different directions as to how they feel about this alien. Some people love him, some hate him. Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?"

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will also introduce fans to iconic superheroes Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), appearances which will help set up Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2, arriving in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Each of these heroes will get their own movies as well, with Patty Jenkins set to direct Wonder Woman and James Wan attached to direct Aquaman. Zack Snyder will be directing Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2, revealing that the directors of these stand alone movies will have the freedom to do their own thing, but they must realize that they're all a part of one big universe.

"I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe."

After Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters next spring, Warner Bros. will release Suicide Squad next August, followed by Wonder Woman (June 23, 2017), Justice League Part 1 (November 11, 2017), The Flash (March 23, 2018), Aquaman (July 27, 2018), Shazam! (April 5, 2019), Justice League Part 2 (June 14, 2019), Cyborg (April 30, 2020) and Green Lantern Corps. (June 19, 2020). Shazam!, Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps. don't have directors attached yet, but there is still plenty of time to find a filmmaker for each of these superhero movies.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Callan Mulvey.
