Even though production is already under way on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, that doesn't mean casting is over, by any means, although it isn't quite clear what characters have yet to be cast. Two new unconfirmed rumors have surfaced today that indicate Edge of Tomorrow star Emily Blunt is close to signing on for an unspecified role, while beloved Batman character Jim Gordon is reportedly featured in the big screen adventure.

If Emily Blunt does sign on, it will be her first role in a superhero movie, although she was set to play Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Scheduling conflicts with Gulliver's Travels ultimately forced her to bow out, paving the way for Scarlett Johansson to take the role.

Of course, her potential casting has many wondering what character she could be playing. When Warner Bros. announced the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice title last month, it seemed clear that Warner Bros. is setting the table for their Justice League movie. Kevin Smith revealed last month that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not a sequel to last year's Man of Steel, with Warner Bros.' reportedly building their universe for the next five or six movies.

With all that being said, it's possible that Emily Blunt could have a small role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that will be expanded in future movies leading up to Justice League. It's possible that she could be playing Kara Zor-El/Supergirl or even Hawkgirl, but that is just speculation at this point.

Regarding Jim Gordon, the character has appeared in every big-screen Batman movie since Tim Burton's Batman in 1989. Ben Affleck's version of Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has already been described as "tired," "seasoned" and "weary," after several years of fighting crime in Gotham, and since Jeremy Irons is playing Alfred Pennyworth from the comics, it wouldn't be too surprising to see another character from the Batman universe show up.
