Before the theatrical release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, rumors surfaced that Warner Bros. was putting together an R-rated special edition for its home video release. Director Zack Snyder confirmed that this Ultimate Edition will include 30 minutes of extra footage, including our first look at cast members who were cut out of the movie, including Jena Malone, Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green and iconic bodybuilder guru C.T. Fletcher. Today we finally have our first look at this Ultimate Edition with a new trailer, which reveals Jena Malone's character, who apparently works with Amy Adams' Lois Lane at the Daily Planet.

The trailer, which debuted on Youtube (via Collider), also features extended footage from the North Africa sequence, along with a new character seen scratching a Batman symbol into a lottery ticket, which he shows off to Clark Kent. There is also footage from a TV interview Clark Kent is watching, which is different from the theatrical cut, along with scenes of a few Russian characters, one of whom smiles when Superman takes down a missile. We don't know how these scenes will impact the movie as a whole, but we do know that this Ultimate Edition will be available early on Digital HD June 28, before debuting on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Ultra HD Blu-ray July 19.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and Standard Definition 2-Disc DVD will contain a ton of special features, including Uniting the World's Finest, Gods and Men: A Meeting of Giants, The Warrior, The Myth, The Wonder, Accelerating Design: The New Batmobile, Superman: Complexity & Truth, Batman: Austerity & Rage, Wonder Woman: Grace & Power, Batcave: Legacy of the Lair, The Might and the Power of a Punch, The Empire of Luthor and Save the Bats. It's worth noting that, earlier this month, a Swedish retailer revealed some of bonus features that will be included, but, while some of them are the same, many of them appear to now be different, or at least they have new titles.

The Blu-ray release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will feature a Dolby Atmos soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room including overhead. The official runtime for the Ultimate Edition is 182 minutes, with an R rating for sequences of violence. Zack Snyder teased last month that he is putting back scenes that he was forced to cut so the film would get a PG-13 rating. He also revealed that there is no nudity, just more violence that "tipped the scales" from an R rating to a PG-13.

There have also been rumors that Warner Bros. is mulling a theatrical release for this R-rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but that has yet to be confirmed. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has taken in $329.5 million domestically, with an additional $542.3 million internationally for a global total of $871.8 million. The worldwide tally is good for third best this year, behind Marvel's Captain America: Civil War ($1.1 billion) and Disney's Zootopia ($993.7 million).
