Back in April, Disney and LucasFilm unveiled the second teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, during Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. The online release of this highly-anticipated footage set a new record, with 88 million views within the first 24 hours of release. Some thought that record wouldn't fall until perhaps the first footage from Star Wars: Episode VIII was released, but today we have word that this record has fallen, by another upcoming Disney movie. Yesterday, the first teaser for Beauty and the Beast debuted, which was viewed a record 91.8 million times.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the live-action Beauty and the Beast footage broke the record for the most-viewed "teaser" within the first 24 hours. The 91.8 million mark bested the April teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first teaser for Captain America: Civil War (61 million views) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (31 million). Still, another trailer record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens will remain intact.

The final full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, released in October, amassed a whopping 112 million views in the first day of its release. Marvel's Captain America: Civil War is second among this list, with 94.7 million views during its first day. It's certainly possible that the first full trailer for Disney's Beauty and the Beast could break Star Wars: The Force Awakens' 112 million mark, but we'll just have to wait and see.

The Beauty and the Beast trailer first debuted on ABC's Good Morning America, before it was released online. It was also featured during ABC's The Bachelorette on Monday night, and fans will also get a chance to watch this footage on the big screen this weekend, where it will be attached to prints of Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass. With several months left until Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017, there is plenty of time for this fairy tale adventure to go after more of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' records.

Emma Watson stars as Belle, with Dan Stevens portraying the Beast. The supporting cast is rounded out by Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Belle's father Maurice, Josh Gad as Gaston's aide Lefou, Ewan McGregor as the candelabra Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as the harpsichord Maestro Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the feather duster Plumette, Audra McDonald as the wardrobe Madame Garderobe, Ian McKellen as the mantel clock Cogsworth and Emma Thompson as the teapot Mrs. Potts. Bill Condon directs from a script written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky. Stay tuned for more on Beauty and the Beast as we get closer to the spring 2017 release date.
