Before filmmaker James Gunn went off to make his long-awaited sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which hits theaters this May, he also produced a small indie film he wrote several years ago entitled The Belko Experiment, which is finally coming to the big screen. Just days after the first trailer preview arrived, today we have the full red band trailer for this intense thriller, that takes "workplace violence" to a whole new level. We also have new photos as well from The Belko Experiment, which is set to hit theaters on March 17.

Written by the acclaimed writer/director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither) and directed by Greg McLean (creator of the Wolf Creek franchise), The Belko Experiment is a terrifying, provocative and at times hilarious thrill-ride that literally provokes the question; what does it take to survive at work? James Gunn debuted the red band trailer today on his own YouTube page, which starts out by showcasing some of the employees of Belko, a non-profit organization that facilitates companies in South America. While it seems like your typical office job, that changes with a simple announcement.

During a seemingly normal day, an announcement comes through the corporate intercom system that all of the employees are tasked with killing three of their co-workers. If they don't, then this mysterious entity will kill six people at random. While these office workers first think this is just some elaborate prank, they find out that is not the case when one of their co-workers heads explodes. A group of these employees, including Mike Milch (John Gallagher Jr.), realize that their now-deceased co-worker died from an explosion inside his head, which was caused by the chips that are implanted in every worker's head when they start working for Belko.

The ensemble cast of The Belko Experiment also includes Tony Goldwyn, John C. McGinley, Adria Arjona, Josh Brener and Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy). The Belko Experiment has been given a March 17, 2017 release date, which puts it up against Disney's highly-anticipated live-action Beauty and the Beast remake, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, and Free Fire, starring Brie Larson. This thriller also comes just a week before another Brie Larson film, Warner Bros.' action-adventure Kong: Skull Island, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman and more.

The film was directed by Greg McLean and executive produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran (The Conjuring 1&2, Annabelle). It will be interesting to see if fans of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy will head to theaters for this thriller, which arrives just a few months before his superhero sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives on May 5. Take a look at the red band trailer for The Belko Experiment below, which features plenty of gory footage and adult language.
