It happens all the time. A big name actor or director is rumored for a high profile project. Shortly there after, they deny it. And then, a couple days down the road, the initial rumor is confirmed. It's the Hollywood way, and it seems to be happening with DC Comics juggernaut superhero epic Justice League.
Earlier this month, director Ben Affleck was rumored to be Warner Bros. and DC Comics' number one pick after The Dark Knight Rises' Christopher Nolan turned his nose up at it. Shortly there after, Ben Affleck's camp denied the rumors. Now, we have his direct quote about the whole scenario, in which he blames sites like ours for perpetuating false information.
"I'm not working on Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumors get started. Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on."
This, of course, is all hyperbole, and stories like this are usually thrown out there to throw off the scent of what's actually going on. Its still very possible that Ben Affleck is directing this long-gestating superhero adventure. Do you want to see him at the helm? If not, who do you want to see directing Batman and Superman for the first time on the big screen together in Justice League? Zack Snyder? Jonathan Nolan? Richard Donner? Bobcat Goldthwait? Let us know!
