As he prepares to play Batman in the highly-anticipated Batman Vs. Superman, Ben Affleck's directing career seems to be showing no signs of slowing down. Warner Bros. and Pearl Street Films have acquired an untitled thriller for the multi-hyphenate to star in and direct.

Will Staples (World's Most Wanted) is writing the script, which is set in Africa and follows a group of mercenaries hired to kill a ruthless warlord. The project is described as an action movie that also explores themes of philanthropy and the moral ambiguities of foreign assistance in other countries. Ben Affleck hatched the original idea for the movie, which he pitched to Will Staples.

The director's longtime friend Matt Damon is producing along with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Todd through their Pearl Street Films company. No production schedule was given.

Ben Affleck is currently shooting Gone Girl, and he is planning to star in and direct the Dennis Lehane adaptation Live by Night.
