Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi are in negotiations to join Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale in the thriller Contraband for Universal and Working Title.

According to Variety, Contraband is a remake of the Icelandic pic Reykjavik-Rotterdam and is being directed by Baltasar Kormákur who also co-wrote, produced and starred in the original.

The thriller follows a security guard (Mark Wahlberg), who after running into some financial troubles decides to go on one more smuggling run.

Ben Foster will play Mark Wahlberg's brother-in-law while details on the character Giovanni Ribisi would play were not disclosed.

Aaron Guzikowski is adapting the script with Mark Wahlberg, Eric Fellner and Stephen Levinson producing.

Production on Contraband is set for January.
