Benecio Del Toro is set to portray the undercover FBI agent who almost became a made mad in a new film project. Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Del Toro has signed on to star in Making Jack Falcone.

The project reunites Del Toro with Che director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Peter Buchman. Buchman will write the script for Soderbergh to produce, but it doesn't seem like he'll direct the project, since it was said that they are looking for a director.

The film is based off the true story of retired FBI agent Jack Garcia, a Cuban-born man who took on the identity of Jack Falcone, infiltrating the New York mafia with such success that they were about to make him a "made man." Garcia's work led to the arrest of 39 members of the New York mafia. Below is a 60 Minutes piece featuring the real Jack Garcia talking about his life as an undercover mobster.

No production schedule was set for the film.
