With Ride Along stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart already confirmed to return for the sequel Ride Along 2, Universal Pictures is starting to round out the supporting cast, with Benjamin Bratt joining the team.

No details were given for Benjamin Bratt's character, but Variety's report reveals that the story will follow James Payton (Ice Cube) and Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) as they head to Miami for, "fun, chaos and shenanigans."

The main creative team from Ride Along is also intact for the sequel, with Tim Story returning to direct from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, with William Packer, Ice Cube, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner producing. It isn't known when production will begin, but Universal Pictures has already set a January 15, 2016 release date for the sequel.

Benjamin Bratt most recently starred on the Fox limited series 24: Live Another Day, and provided his voice for the animated sequels Despicable Me 2 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
