When Walt Disney Pictures acquired Marvel back in 2009, most fans thought it would only be a matter of time before the studio made an animated feature based off the plethora of superhero characters that came with the acquisition. Now, it seems that time may have come, with the news that Disney is developing an animated feature based on the obscure Marvel comic book Big Hero 6.

Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau created the title in 1998. This superhero team is comprised of Silver Samurai, Sunfire, GoGo Tomago, Honey Lemon, Hiro Takachiho and Baymax, who were brought together by the Japanese government to do their bidding.

Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) is attached to direct, after pitching the idea to Disney Animation chief John Lasseter. Kristina Reed is attached to produce. The studio is currently looking for writers to tackle this comic book adaptation. It is believed that Disney is eyeing a 2014 release date, with the movie leading into the release of The Avengers 2.
