Amanda Seyfried and Theo James have signed on to star in the supernatural thriller Black Lung, which will be executive produced by True Detective director Cary Fukunaga. The story centers on Del (Amanda Seyfried), the wife of a Utah coal miner who has a premonition about an impending disaster, which ultimately saves her husband's (Theo James) life. This puts the husband under suspicion when a mine explosion traps several other miners, as the wife's visions keep getting worse and worse, hinting at a sinister, supernatural force within the mountain.

Chase Palmer, who wrote the script for the Dune remake and IT, will make his directorial debut, working from his own original screenplay, with Cary Fukunaga executive producing through his Parliament of Owls production company, alongside Cooper's Town Productions and 2929 Productions. Here's what Cooper's Town's Emily Ziff and Sara Murphy had to say about the project in a statement.

"Black Lung possesses that rare mix of qualities that we as producers dream about. It's elegant, sophisticated, and thrillingly commercial with a visionary filmmaker and two electrifying actors on board to bring it to the screen."

Production is scheduled to begin this summer. Amanda Seyfried most recently starred in A Million Ways to Die in the West, and she will next be seen in While We're Young, Ted 2 and Pan later this year. Theo James reprises his role as Four from last year's Divergent in next month's sequel The Divergent Series: Insurgent.
