Director Clint Eastwood and producer Graham King are closing in on the main cast for their musical biopic Jersey Boys. Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza and Broadway performers John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, and Michael Lomenda are the top choices to play Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
No offers have been made, but Warner Bros. has given the OK to start negotiations. If deals can be made, John Lloyd Young will star as lead singer Frankie Valli, Erich Bergen will take on keyboardist/tenor vocalist Bob Gaudio, Vincent Piazza will play lead guitarist/baritone vocalist Tommy DeVito, and Michael Lomenda will portray bass guitarist/bass vocalist Nick Massi.
John Logan (Skyfall) wrote the screenplay, with Graham King and Robert Lorenz producing. The real-life Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio are serving as executive producers. It isn't known when production may begin.
All of the actors except Vincent Piazza had starred in the stage musical version of Jersey Boys at one point, but Vincent Piazza performed in several other productions before joining the Boardwalk Empire cast.
