Fox news is reporting that Daniel Craig (of Tomb Raider acclaim) will be the next James Bond, British uber-spy.

Craig has been seen in Layer Cake, Road to Perdition and Sylvia.

Craig was born in 1968 in Chester, England and grew up in Liverpool and London before training at the National Youth Theater and graduating from Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Craig will play Bond in the 21st outing for the spy, Casino Royale, a title used for the 1967 film, Casino Royale, that lampooned the character and genre and starred Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress, David Niven, Woody Allen, John Houston and Orson Welles.

The latest version of the film will bring back Judi Dench and John Cleese and will be directed by Martin Campbell, who has directed Beyond Borders, Vertical Limit, The Mask of Zorro, and Goldeneye. Campbell is also directing The Legend of Zorro for a 2005 release. The film is currently in pre-production for a 2006 release.
