Just hours after we reported that Bourne franchise star Julia Stiles is reprising her role as Nicky Parsons in Universal's Untitled Matt Damon Bourne Sequel, a new report has surfaced about who may play the bad guy. The Wrap's Jeff Sneider claims that Viggo Mortensen has been offered the main villain role, but it isn't known if the actor plans on accepting this offer or not. This will be the first time Matt Damon is returning to the beloved franchise since 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum.

Paul Greengrass is directing and co-writing the new Bourne screenplay with Christopher Rouse. No plot details have surfaced yet, but producer Frank Marshall recently revealed that they are in pre-production, with the filmmakers scouting locations and casting. It isn't known when production may begin, but the studio has already set a July 29, 2016 release date, so shooting may begin sooner than later.

This project is being produced separately from Universal's sequel to The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner as another Treadstone agent, Aaron Cross. There were rumors that both Jason Bourne and Aaron Cross will meet on the big screen, but for now, two sequels are being developed as separate entities. Viggo Mortensen most recently starred in The Two Faces of January and Jauja, and he is also attached to star in Captain Fantastic. Do you think Viggo Mortensen is a good choice to play Jason Bourne's new nemesis?
