Brightlight Pictures and Rhombus Media will partner again with the development of Under the Bridge, a feature film based on the book by Rebecca Godfrey.

Under the Bridge is a joint venture between BLP - Rhombus and Reese Witherspoon's Type A Films. Producers are Shawn Williamson and Stephen Hegyes (BLP), Niv Fichman (Rhombus), and Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Simpson (Type A).

A critically-acclaimed investigative narrative, Godfrey's bestselling Under the Bridge tells the compelling story of a group of seemingly ordinary suburban teenagers. On a Friday night, one of them, Reena Virk, was beaten and murdered under the bridge in her small town. Under the Bridge, by Rebecca Godfrey, was published by Harper Collins in 2005.

Jennifer Simpson says, "Rebecca's book is a stunning and heartbreaking tale that looks at a very dark side of teenage life. We are committed to bringing Under the Bridge to the big screen and making a film that does this story justice. By teaming with Brightlight and Rhombus, we will be able to do just that."

Shawn Williamson says, "Under the Bridge is a riveting account of a tragic and disturbing incident. We believe this is an important story to tell and that by partnering with Rhombus and Type A we will make an extraordinary film with the compassion and sensitivity that the subject matter requires."
